CSTA Long Island to merge with the other CSTA Chapters in NY

The membership of the existing CSTA chapters in NY have approved the proposal to merge to CSTA New York. The proposed bylaws and leadership were also approved by over 85% of the votes. Thank you for taking the time to vote.

As previously stated, this merger will create a greater opportunity for Computer Science teachers' voices from across the state to be heard, and establish a support channel for our teachers on a statewide level. We believe that this statewide chapter will allow us to better serve educators from all regions of New York, ensuring that their unique needs and perspectives are represented, and that in-person events happen in many different parts of the state.

Over the next several months, there will be several steps that need to occur during the transition process. These include technical things such as creating a new chapter with CSTA national, transitioning all members from existing chapters into the new one, and creating a statewide chapter website. This all must be done according to CSTA policy as well as adhering to all legal and tax regulations.

Our goal is to accomplish this transition by March, although it may not be fully completed before the end of the school year.  We will keep you informed as updates occur. You may receive intermediate notices and emails as various steps are completed.

If you have questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to your regional representative or any other member of the chapter executive board.

Sincerely,
