Join us for our October CSTA MD Virtual Chapter Meeting being held on Thursday October 2nd, 2025 from 4:30-5:30 pm.  During this meeting we will be introducing our first Golden Crab, sharing our year long meeting calendar and topics, announcing our nominees for Leadership positions, and focusing our discussion around Cybersecurity for Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

Cybersecurity goes far beyond the computer science classroom—it’s part of our history, culture, and everyday lives. From ancient ciphers and WWII codebreaking to modern data breaches and digital privacy, cybersecurity has always shaped the way people live and make decisions. When students see cybersecurity not just as “another CS unit” but as a lens into history, society, and their own world, the spark of curiosity comes alive.

We will be using the Hello World Issue 24 article "Using Gamification to Improve Engagement in Cybersecurity" found on pages 36-37 to spark our discussion, so feel free to check it out before the meeting!
