Hi again all,
Thanks to all who responded to my first post, my Director wants to know some other specifics:
We are planning some updates for our robotics courses for the coming year. We are interested in reviewing the V5 but are not sure where it fits in our program and we want to ensure that students in our robotics 2 class have a more advanced robotics experience to increase their skills.
Here are the current platforms we are using:
Middle School:
High School:
- Robotics 1: Vex EDR
- Robotics 2: This is the first year we plan on running this course. We had purchased a number of the Tetrix kits for this course in 2017 (still in boxes) and are looking into taking the next step with either updating the first high school course or identifying the viability of other platforms. The Tetrix kits we have were purchased in 2017:
- Tetrix Max Dual-Control Class Pack 43418
- Tetrix Max Dual-Control Robotics Set 43054
- Tetrix Prizm Coding Essentials Teachers Guide 43378
- Tetrix Max Engineering Mobile Robotics Teachers Guide 59793
We plan on moving to the V5 in the near future and are trying to determine the proper placement in our curriculum.
What are your recommendations for both high school courses Robotics 1 and Robotics 2?
Are these Tetrix kits still viable for a higher level Robotics 2 course after students experience Vex EDR in High school and Vex IQ in middle school? Recommendations?
What the benefits and issues to using the older Tetrix?
What are the difference in the robot brains between the V5 and the Tetrix? Are there limitations in the number of sensors between these kits?
All information is helpful.
Thanks
