Please share in your communities. Thanks! Diane

Climate change is real. Help your students learn how increased CO2 in the atmosphere is causing environmental issues that harm life on Earth.

Join me at a professional development session for this new climate literacy tool: Coastal Climate Science Activities and Experiments.

MIT "Coastal Climate Science Activities and Experiments" (CCSAE) is a set of hands-on experiments, real-life scenarios, academic references, and visualizations that teach the connections between rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere and the resulting harm to marine, terrestrial, and human life.

With this tool, students create the "big picture" of climate change for themselves, and learn about environmental problems that are commonly reported: rising sea level, ocean acidification, extreme weather, harmful algal blooms, and changes to the Atlantic Ocean circulation. The learning experiences are quick, easy, qualitative, and impactful.

The CCSAE tool is targeted to middle and high school teachers of any subject (not only science!).

We are hosting the session twice:

    Session 1: Thurs, February 20th, 1:30 - 3:30 pm

    Session 2: Wed, February 26th, 5:00 - 7:00 pm

Both events are in-person and will take place at the  MIT Sea Grant lab, 12 Emily St, Cambridge, MA 02139 (https://maps.app.goo.gl/eXm9YRnN7ardguu17). Parking is free and available at this location.

Please sign up on this form if you would like to participate. Space is limited for the experience. If you have any questions, please contact the Day of Climate organizers at dayofclimate@mit.edu or the lead project developer Diane Brancazio at dianeb@mit.edu.

This educational tool is part of MIT's Day of Climate initiative. Other educational offerings are available at the Day of Climate site.

    Sincerely,

    Diane
