    Happy New Year!

A few announcements from the NYC DOE CS4All Slack Group:

    1) Saber Khan is planning a Creative Coding Fest for January 28th, Saturday, at the Dalton School on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. CC Fest is a free and inclusive event for middle and high school students and teachers. I hope many of you bring yourselves and your students to the event. It is a fun event with lots of accessible workshops in creative coding. This will be our first in-person event since 2019. We also do virtual events too. You can learn more about the event at https://ccfest.rocks. If you have any questions please send me an email at . The event is supported by Processing Foundation - processingfoundation.org

    2) Looking for exciting CS integration units? CS4All is now gauging interest from educators to implement a new unit that integrates ELA Next Generation Standards and Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards in a high-interest learning series that builds students' close reading, argumentative writing, and discussion skills (unit overview). If interested, this potential program is available to ELA or Humanities teachers who agree to implement the unit during the first 6-7 weeks of the Spring semester. Teacher teams, SPED and ENL teachers working in ELA or Humanities classes are strongly encouraged to express their interest. Please fill out this interest form by no later than January 15th: https://forms.gle/sb23z6cyeYpVvYudA

    3) Do you write your own ELA or Humanities units? Are you working with students who are reluctant readers or writers but enthusiastic about technology? Based on students' need to discuss and read and write about topics that are relevant to their lives, we noticed that having an opportunity to implement a unit that integrates ELA and CS standards would be beneficial. We'd like to gauge interest from ELA and Humanities teachers, as well as their SPED and ENL co-teachers, to see if you would be interested in participating in a potential program that will provide you with unit as well as myriad resources (texts, differentiated materials, slide decks, etc) along with PL sessions to implement that unit. (Link to detailed unit overview.)  Interested? Please fill out this form! Interested in Implementing "Who Owns Your Face"?
