    We are excited to announce the launch of our next Community of Practice (CoP) series for IT/CS teachers, beginning on February 6, 2025! This year, we are thrilled to welcome three additional colleges into our learning community: Edmonds College, Whatcom Community College, and Bellingham Technical College. Their participation will enrich our discussions and collaborations as we strengthen pathways from high school to post-secondary education and beyond.

    Community of Practice Year 2 Outcomes

    Together, we will focus on the following key goals:

    1. Coherence in Curriculum and Standards
      • Develop a shared understanding of essential computer science and IT competencies across high school and post-secondary programs.
      • Identify gaps and overlaps in curriculum to ensure seamless transitions.
      • Map existing courses and programs, with a focus on expanding dual credit articulations.
    2. Exploring Current and Emerging Industry Trends
      • Stay informed about emerging technologies such as AI, programming, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and data science.
      • Incorporate teacher feedback on areas of interest to ensure curriculum updates reflect the latest industry advancements.
      • Gain insights into CS/IT labor market data and insights
    3. Aligning Curriculum with Industry Needs
      • Ensure certifications (e.g., CompTIA, AWS, Google) align with regional job demands.
      • Collaborate with industry partners to understand emerging skill requirements and adjust curriculum focus areas.
      • Host a roundtable with employers (e.g., Amazon, FANUC) to gather insights and strengthen partnerships.
