Are you a NYC-area 5 K-12 p5.js teacher interested in issues surrounding Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models (LLMs), Machine Learning (ML), and how they might impact the future of teaching creative coding? We'd love for you to join us to help us think through these issues and what the path forward for K-12 looks like!
On March 15, 2025, Processing Foundation, in collaboration with the Clinic for Open Source Arts and New York University, will be hosting a focus group to collaboratively explore the intersection between teaching creative coding in K-12 classrooms and large language models (LLMs).
Participants will take part in an exciting focus group around
-
What is the difference between AI, LLM, ML?
-
How can ethical/critical discussions of AI be introduced into the K-12 classroom?
-
What does effective/responsible teaching using LLMs look like?
-
Can/Should LLMs be a tool for differentiating instruction or making instruction more accessible?
The resulting discussion will provide structure and direction for educator resources developed after the focus group that provide guidance around the use of these tools in the classroom and in combination with creative coding.
Educators who attend will be treated to lunch, be listed as a contributor to p5.js, and will receive a digital badge.
If you are a 5 K-12 p5.js teacher who would be interested in joining our from 10 am to 3 pm on March 15 at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program (370 Jay Street, 4th Floor, Brooklyn), please complete this form by February 21, 5 pm ET.
We're looking forward to collaborating with you!
