Applications are now being accepted for the tenure-track faculty position of Assistant Professor, Computer Science, beginning Fall 2024 (classes begin August 2024) at San Diego Mesa College.
The Computer and Information Sciences Department at San Diego Mesa College prepares students for industry positions as well as transfer to 4-year institutions. Faculty strive to make learning relevant and fun while creating equitable learning environments in which all students can succeed.
The Computer Science Assistant Professor is both an experienced educator and a knowledgeable professional who employs equitable teaching pedagogy to convey the technical and workplace skills of the industry for the success of students.
This position will teach courses within the Computer and Information Sciences discipline that match their knowledge, skills, and experience. These courses may include: Java, Python, Linux, C++, C#, Lisp, Agile Software Development, Project Management, Databases, Assembly Language, and Data Structures.
This is not a research position.
The 40 hour per week assignment will consist of teaching at least 15 class hours per week, both on-campus and online classes, and may include day, evening and weekend hours.
The responsibilities of Mesa College tenured/tenure-track faculty include but are not limited to; teaching, maintaining regular office hours for student advisement, curriculum review and development, departmental projects and events, reports, program review, learning outcomes assessments, adjunct faculty evaluations, active participation in departmental and school meetings, industry advisory committee meetings, special activities, serving on College and District committees, and participating in various college activities, and other roles as needed. Computer and Information Sciences faculty are expected to maintain instructional currency and
contemporary expertise.
