    Hi Fellow CS Teachers,

I wanted to pop into the community here to share about a great opportunity to collaborate on summer research at the UW Center for Learning, Computing, & Imagination

I participated in this program last summer and had an fantastic experience!  I came into the collaboration with a problem of practice in mind (mine was supporting multilingual learners in the CS classroom).  I spent the summer learning about the current research in this area, collaborating with faculty and Ph.D. students, participating in research, and observing a summer Upward Bound course being taught, and more.  With support and collaboration from researchers, I developed a semester-long CS unit designed to be culturally and linguistically sustaining for my 7th grade students, which I will be teaching this spring.  I learned so much, got to meet a bunch of really cool people, and had a lot of support and collaboration in creating something to better serve my students.  Oh, and I also got paid to do it!

If this sort of thing sounds interesting to you for this upcoming summer, you can find out more details and fill out the LCI Summer Research for Teachers Interest Form.  You can also feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you want to chat more about my experience.  I loved it so much I'm hoping to return this summer for a repeat experience, and would love to have more teachers to collaborate with!
