    Hey all,

I am in the process to doing my thing and trying to find all of the k12 folks at GDC this year. Looks like a fairly large number on the networking app compared to previous years. I have already touched base with a bunch of you on the GDC app, if you are going and I have not found you yet, please let me know. I try to get a group text thread with all of us.

Rounding us up is a challenge given our own unique needs.

A few things to get us aware of together, if not explicitly synced up.

    • If you are going to be in town Sunday, Day of the Devs is pretty awesome. I don't think I will get into SF in time, but if you are looking for something to do Sunday that is a good bet.
    • Unity hosts an Educational Mixer every year, Kirk said he will announce details tomorrow on the Unity Ed discord. If there is an RSVP link I will put it in this thread for all of you. I would HIGHLY recommend it, even if you aren't a unity person. They typically cater very well. Years past it has been Thursday Evening.
    • GDC has a "GDC.edu" educational event on the books for Thursday morning. tickets are free on Eventbrite.
    • Godot has an event during GDC usually, Owen Perry might know more.
    • The Educational summit looks like a bit of a miss for the k12 folks truth be told, it took almost a decade of badgering them to get them to passively acknowledge our existence, so baby steps. I know I will go to Chris Totten's thing and the soap box, but I will probably be floating about Tuesday.
    • The Concert on Wednesday is awesome.
    • I will probably do at least one the GDC nights things to check it out.
    • Please post any other cool events as you find them.

I would love to try and get all of us to one place at one time this year to talk shop. We have kinda done the "lets all go out to eat thing" with various levels of success. I am combing through the schedule to try and find a nice spot in the week to hang out.

    • Tuesday Morning is pretty dead in terms of Ed summit stuff. Could be a good chance to get together. There is usually no shortage of space in the alcove areas in Moscone West.
    • Maybe hanging out before/during/after the concert would be a good play.
    • Wednesday Evening at 5pm is effectively free happy hour on the expo floor.
    • We could always get together for lunch in Yerba Buena Park.
    • We could meet up at or during the GDC.edu event or the Unity mixer.

Looking forward to seeing a bunch of you this year.

I haven't heard anything about Github's normal party so I'm disappointed. They may not be having it this year, although that would be odd. I usually hear from various people about it. Tickets on Eventbrite usually go fast, it's free, but I haven't even heard any news of it yet.

The general vibe I am getting asking around is that a few people were caught off guard by GDC themselves getting into the "afterparty" space this year with GDC Nights.

There is generally a bunch of stuff added throughout the next couple of weeks.

I finally just got confirmed for GDC yesterday, so I'd love to meet up with others in the education space. I won't be in SF in time for the Day of the Devs, but if you're organizing anything, send me an email at adeloach@dallasisd.org and I'll see what we can do!
