I'm one of three esports coaches at my school (it's one of our largest student orgs and is very competitive). Not directly related with my classes, but a lot of overlap.
I also started a TCG club this year and got a few kids into Magic, which is helpful since my intro game design class is going through Mark Rosewater's GDC talk (1 lesson a day). It gives them more vocabulary and different examples since it's often easier for them to see the mechanics for what they are in tabletop form rather than in digital games. We'll see how much that ends up being helpful for the classes, but it's at least fun for now.

Do you have a club or a team that is directly or loosely related to your program?
For example, my school started Esports this year, I am actually not the coach, I have enough on my plate, but the team is made up almost entirely of my students.
I am also the club advisor for DnD club, which has a bunch of my kids, but also seems to be a valuable recruiting ground for me.
