Do your students compete/enter any public Game Jams? Things like GGJ Next or Global Game Jam?

Looking at things for students to do.

I post in my Google Classrooms when there are Game Jams, but rarely has anyone mentioned participating. I want to create one in person on say a Saturday, but the amount of red tape required to open my school building and host one is astronomical AND I'd have to pay a custodian to be at work that day, so I doubt I'll host my own.

There are more local hackathons than game jams, my students never want to do virtual anything again after 18 months of distance learning. So I get them to show up for the local hackathons

Not public but, I host my own about 3 times a year and games are played and voted on during term finals.

Games are posted online on my website so family and friends can play too.

I attempted Global Game Jam Next back in 2018ish and it was during summer so none of the students wanted to participate. However, prior to covid I had run several jams (analog and digital)  either at my school site or at a local university with their game design students. All it took was someone at the university department level willing to act as a point person; the university event coordination staff end up doing most of the logistical work. Unfortunately most of my contacts that helped facilitate the events have moved on to greener pastures so it has been awhile since I've done a jam, but I want to get back into it.
