Video Game Design/Developers

I wanted to get a head count on who is going to GDC this year. I will be there all week.

I'm not going this year, but I would love to hear how useful you find it when you return. I've gone twice in the past. Is there more of a focus on educators in recent years? Specifically on high school game design?

Wes, Mel and I have been working on that. Generally our efforts have been a little more grassroots finding people. Someday (hopefully next year) we can get something k12 oriented on the official schedule. I know getting funding approval for some teachers is difficult because GDC doesn't have something that says High School/K12 teachers on it.

In fact, this forum exists because we met and brainstormed something like this and Melanie Honeycutt pulled the trigger and made it.

GDC is invaluable to me personally. The education summit is still often useful, even with the focus on college programs and the networking with industry has been great for me.

I'll be at GDC with all my students on Friday for Careers Day. I'll be at he W4 Games booth on Thursday with 5 students who will be presenting games they have been making in Godot. I don't know anything about the Education Summit but if it's on Wednesday I'm not going to be there.

I will be at the Godot Meetup at Github's Headquarters on Wednesday night. I could find an invite if anyone wants to go. Last year I went to the Godot meetup at Github and the food and drinks were excellent.

I also live in San Francisco so if anyone wants to meet up in an evening or get tips on things to see and do, hit me up.

Stop by the W4 Games booth on Thursday and introduce yourself if you come.
