How can teacher education programs and school systems better support BIPOC STEM educators to navigate challenges related to school culture, community engagement, and professional learning? The U.S. Department of Education and Beyond100K are partnering to host a dynamic and restorative webinar aimed at amplifying the efforts to address the challenges of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) teacher representation and retention. The goal for this interactive session is to bring together partners, school leaders, and teacher preparation organizations to explore strategies for creating a supportive and equitable environment for BIPOC STEM educators, thereby improving retention rates, and contributing to a more inclusive and effective educational system. We will also discuss how to equip programs to navigate cultural and community challenges and delve into successful solutions and practices that are already making a difference.
