CSEdWeek 2022 kicks off next week! We are so excited about the events and resources we've developed to help you inspire your students in the classroom, advocate for computer science, and to celebrate progress! Below, you'll find an overview of what's happening next week.
Each year, CSTA creates a set of CS Hero posters and corresponding lessons for you to use in your classroom. This year's posters and lessons are now available on the CSEdWeek website. You'll even meet some of these heroes during the CSEdWeek 2022 Kick-Off Panel.
Monday, Dec. 5, 1-2 p.m. ET
Join us as we celebrate the start of CSEdWeek! As we aim to celebrate our progress, we'll hear from a select panel of the 2022 CS Heroes about their own progress, and celebrate community milestones in CS Education. Our panelists will discuss their own journeys to computer science, what has inspired them, and their recommendations for how we can continue to advance so that every student has an equal opportunity to learn computer science. Our panelists include Okezue Bell, Yim Register, Kayla Saniya Fortson, and Daisy Murillo.
Wednesday, Dec. 7, 6-7 p.m. ET
Are you looking for ways to advocate for computer science in your community? Looking for where to start? Look no further than this session. The CSTA teacher-led policy committee will share ways all teachers can become advocates for CS in their schools, communities, regionally, and beyond!
Thursday, Dec. 8, 4-5 p.m. ET
CSTA and Kapor Center are excited to share findings from a 2022 national survey of PreK-12 computer science teachers. We will share the current landscape of PreK-12 CS teachers, including their demographics, teaching background, school context, professional development, instructional practice, and identity-inclusive computing practices. Plus, we will share related recommendations for policymakers, educators, industry leaders, and school district administrators.
