When our chapter was CSTA Puget Sound (aka PSCSTA) until Nov 2024, we used to welcome new members to our chapter through the following process:
- Our contact account csta.pugetsound@gmail.com would receive a notification that a new member joined our chapter
- The person monitoring that account would forward that mail to our Vice President @Adrienne Gifford. Note that we tried automating this process through Outlook rules but this was hit-and-miss.
- Adrienne would then send the new member a personalized e-mail welcoming the member to the chapter. The e-mail would contain links to a PowerPoint and a quickly-created "orientation video" of how to best experience chapter membership.
Since we have now merged with the other three CSTA chapters in Washington to create CSTA Washington (yeah!), we know that we need to update the content that we send to new members to reflect the new "CSTA Washington" rather than "PSCSTA". We have suspended our welcome e-mails until we can do this update.
In addition, we were wondering if we could automate the welcoming on new members to our chapter. It seems that the easiest solution would be to have the AMS (probably this would wait until Higher Logic) to send the chapter-specific mail and content to the new member at the same time it sends the chapter notification of the new member addition.
Perhaps an awkward way of posting, but wanted to find out 1) if Higher Logic would be able to automate welcome messages to new chapter members customized for each chapter and/or 2) how other chapters are welcoming new chapter members
And welcome aboard, @Ashley Love-Smith!
