Chapter Leaders

One of the best parts of any conference is the "hallway track" where one gets to meet and talk to friends and colleagues about the sessions they've attended. Networking and meeting new friends is also one benefit that is difficult to recreate with a virtual conference. With this in mind, CSTA wants to help promote & support in-person gatherings during the CSTA 2023 Virtual Conference! 

1. First, there is a dedicated time for In-Person Meetups on Wednesday, July 12 (Day 2), after 3:35 p.m. ET.  
2. Next, when one of your Chapter Leaders completes the following form (one submission per location planned), we'll add your in-person meetup to the conference schedule so that registrants can indicate their intention to attend. 
3. Then, the disbursement of funds ($20 per registrant who adds your in-person meetup at registration) will happen twice. The first payment will be sent on June 1. The second/final payment will be sent the week after the conference based on the final registration numbers.
4. Finally, Chapter Leaders will be able to pull registration reports on demand through an "Access Portal" from Cvent by the end of March 2023.  

The deadline to register your chapter's meetup and receive funding is June 30, 2023

We love this idea, and have decided to organize an "Appy Hour" from 6:00-7:30 at a local brewery. We aren't starting until 6:00 because we are in a rural area and most folks will need to drive a ways. Here's our announcement; we were trying to keep it light and fun.

Hello friends!  CSTA-MD is excited to have some in-person meetups during Nationals!  Since our members are spread out geographically, we're hosting multiple sites to make it easy for folks to attend.  We have 4 regions and will have each gathering at a local pub or restaurant that has flex seating (and wifi) so that members can come and grab a bite to eat, share some of the amazing sessions they attended, and grow their PLN.  Trying to keep it low-key so that folks can enjoy the camaraderie, relax, and share!

Each regional champion will decide where and when they'll meet up to socialize and share learning from the conference. We're very excited for the Hallway Track in New York!

We are doing an all day in-person meetup at Microsoft's New York office near Times Square from 10am - 5pm with lunch, raffle prizes, and fun activities to help conference attendees meet and learn from one another. Since we have some chapters close by, we're sending invites to anyone who would like to come into NYC from Long Island and the Hudson Valley Chapters.  I'm going to reserve some conference rooms at Microsoft so people can even attend sessions together in a conference room so they can talk about the content and get to know more people in small groups.  We'll serve a light breakfast, coffee / tea all day, and lunch.  After the conference, we'll have a short regional meeting to talk about New York related events and opportunities followed by networking time.

CSTA Philippines is excited to host our in-person meet-up at a partner school in Metro Manila to join the call for Chapter Meetups during this year's annual conference.  Because our chapter is a "pandemic baby" (established November 2020), one of the priorities for our chapter is connecting and engaging with our members beyond virtual meetings. 

This July 14 meetup features a panel of local experts from gov't., industry, and schools  participating in a panel entitled, Reigniting the Passion for Computer Science Education: How to Teach Practical Computer Science?

Other aspects of the meetup will focus on Connecting, Supporting, Teaching and Adapting.

In Mississippi we have decided to meet up for some New York-style pizza (yes such a thing exists. lol) at the beloved local Sal and Mookie's from about 3:30-5:30.
