NC State University has some wonderful paid teacher opportunities running during the summer of 2026. The flyers are attached to the post.

TRACES - June 22-26 (In Person)

NC and VA Teachers near Raleigh, NC, and Charlottesville, VA, are invited to apply to the 2026-2027 cohort of the TRACES project - a joint project with North Carolina State University, University of Virginia, and WestEd.

The TRACES project will empower teachers to lead computational thinking (CT) and computationally enriched activities through adaptive pedagogical tools, preparing them to engage in AI-augmented teaching and human-AI partnerships for classroom support.

Using state-of-the-art AI methods, real-time classroom data will be used to help teachers modify pacing, help specific students in need, and identify students who can act as peer mentors. The project will leverage recent AI advances to transform the landscape of CT in education.
Our 2026 summer workshops will be held June 22-26, 2026.
Participating teachers will work with our team during this workshop and at other scheduled times in the summer and throughout the following academic year to implement science and CT lessons with Snap! block-based programming.
Teachers should be from NC or VA and ideally within driving distance of Raleigh, NC, or Charlottesville, VA; however, highly motivated teachers in these states, in areas not local to the participating universities, will be considered.

    ExLAIM - July 6-31 (Hybrid)

ExLAIM is a four-week paid experience ($3,750), July 6 – July 31, 2026 (Final Symposium: July 31) designed to integrate Generative AI into K-12.

We are seeking K-12 teacher applicants, especially those teaching computer science or related courses in high school, but applicants from other disciplines and grade levels are welcome to apply.

Educators will receive hands-on professional development in AI literacy, ethical considerations, and curriculum integration. Using MerryQuery - a research-backed AI educational assistant developed by the NC State research team that supports teachers in building more intentional and effective instructional designs - participants will co-design classroom-ready lessons and assessments grounded in real instructional needs. Working in interdisciplinary teams, teachers will engage in design studies on a development team to brainstorm and propose new MerryQuery features rooted in their classroom experience.

    I-Sail - July 27-31 (Virtual)

I-SAIL is designed to empower teachers to design and implement AI-infused science problem-solving activities in their classrooms through a novel learning environment.

This is a 5-day intensive virtual workshop through NC State University, with a stipend of $1,500.
Teachers will learn to use a student-friendly, block-based programming environment to teach a core AI module integrated with a science discipline:
    • This year, our focus is Life Sciences: Graph-based representation and Search (e.g., contact tracing apps).
