Monica McGill <monica@csedresearch.org> is helping
Laycee Thigpen <
laycee@csedresearch.org> put together
a panel focused on PreK-5 CS education. Laycee will serve as moderator. They really want to focus on the early years. They'd like to have two researchers, one curriculum designer and two teachers share their thoughts and perspectives. Planned questions right now include:
- Why is it important to introduce CS into PreK-5?
- What does PreK-5 (in particular PreK-2) look like right now?
- What are barriers that teachers and curriculum designers encounter?
- What are ways to approach PreK-2 in a way that reaches every student?
- What resources would you recommend for those district administrators, curriculum designers, teachers, and researchers just starting to focus on PreK-2 CS?
They're looking for two teachers in the Pittsburgh area or teachers who might have funding to attend SIGCSE and have experience in this area. To keep the session diverse, they would LOVE to have an equity fellow (current or alum) be part of the group. Do you know of a couple of teachers who might be able to attend and have interest in presenting?
The deadline for SIGCSE is early this year, so if you could let us know by Tuesday (July 9th), we'd appreciate it.
Monica McGill, Ed.D. (she/her)
