I have 1 section of computer graphics and two sections of Intro to Game Design right now.

My computer graphics kids are finishing up a pixel art character study.

My Intro kids are finishing their unit on designing puzzles today, so a Lot of cartoon sticks of dynamite and mazes in my room.

Brian- looks like some very talented students in your classes this yer!

This is expected to be a super HOT day in my area (my classroom will be about 90+ degrees), so.... We get out of the classroom and head to the library. Today we are playing board games and trying to escape the heat. This is a great chance to promote teamwork, social networking, and making friends (these things are always an issue).

First Year students: Students have just completed a study of demographics/target audiences, and started learning to create a game design document. We are discussing how to generate game ideas and how AI might help with designing for target audiences {eduaide.ai (Science, 5th grade, Gamification, Quest Based)}.

We are also discussing how Games incorporate all of the topics and experiences you might be learning in school and have in life.

Next topic is Storyboarding and using Drawing tablets to create art (for the storyboard and later to make simple assets for the games).

Second Year Students: Have completed Industry Research and presentations of findings. They are now working on a Gap Analysis...What areas does the industry not currently cover that I might be able to exploit as I find my niche?

My computer lab is in a bit of disarray at the moment, so I have had to alter the first month considerably. Here is what they're doing at the moment:

Year 1: just finished a team making a game that uses exactly 17 cards based on some random theme prompts. Real trial by fire about the importance of teamwork and not trying to do everything yourself for my Type-A students.

Year 2: Covered some basic programming stuff, starting today they are pair-programming a game tutorial and learning the Unity interface.

Year 3: did genre studies a few weeks ago and each team presented their findings. Started making a platformer last week to remember how to code and use Unity and they will be finishing that this week.
