From e-mail sent by TEALS to volunteers on Jan 31:
Following up on our previous communication in October 2024, we are thrilled to share more details about the new opportunities and ways Microsoft Philanthropies is supporting schools and educators in preparing students for the AI economy. This includes our work through TEALS helping schools build and sustain inclusive and equitable computer science (CS) programs.
What are we doing
As we evolve TEALS, we are working with nonprofit partners to broaden access to and participation in CS education both in the US and globally through grant funding, free curriculum, and co-design of programs. Through our collaborative efforts with partners, we are providing programmatic offerings, resources, and supports for educators and educational leaders as well as K- 12 and higher education students as they learn and grow within CS.<u5:p></u5:p>
Over the last 15 years, we have learned about the incredible value and power of connecting industry volunteers to CS classrooms, teachers, and students. As we partner with like-minded organizations focused on broadening inclusive and equitable CS education, we are supporting and co-designing opportunities for industry volunteers to support schools and students in expanding CS education opportunities. While our new approach to TEALS will be different, we are excited that it will mean more opportunities for more students and schools across the US and the world to get support than what was available before. <u5:p></u5:p>
What this means for you<u5:p></u5:p>
The TEALS website now includes currently available programmatic offerings for you to review and familiarize yourself with - some that you may even want to take advantage of immediately for the benefit of this current school year. Please continue to visit our TEALS website, follow us on Microsoft AI Skills LinkedIn, or contact us at info@tealsk12.org in the coming months for the latest on the growing number of offerings for CS educators, education leaders, and tech professionals looking to volunteer in support of CS educators and their CS education programs next school year. <u5:p></u5:p>
As a reminder, there will not be a TEALS school and volunteer application for the 2025-26 school year. Through our collaboration with trusted partner organizations such as Code.org, CodePath, CSTA, and Mentors in Tech, we are continuing to build out and add even more offerings designed to support schools, teachers, students, and industry volunteers in growing participation in CS education. Our goal is to help you leverage these evolved offerings as you work directly with our partners to get support for your current and future CS classes.<u5:p></u5:p>
Thank you for your continued partnership with TEALS. We are honored to work alongside you in creating a lasting impact in CS education. More exciting updates are on the way, and we look forward to sharing them with you as the year progresses. <u5:p></u5:p>
Thank you, <u5:p></u5:p>

Subject: TEALS Program Updates: No TEALS school and volunteer application for the 2025-26 school year
On Oct 11, Microsoft TEALS (Technology Education and Learning Support) announced major changes to their program - see attached. While TEALS will be refocusing its efforts to expand access to skilling resources to all educators in K-12 and higher education, CS education, and general education, they are halting their traditional program to place experienced technology professionals in schools to help teach CS courses.
If you are negatively affected by this change or have ideas for adapting to this change, please use this thread to share your thoughts.
