What sort of accommodations do you find your self using? Do you have a lot of Special Education students?

Out of around 75 intro students, I have 30 504s or IEPs and had a meeting with my sped department and they are now being pressured to put more SPED students into CTE courses. I have had plenty of successful students in this category, but I am not getting the best fits this semester for some reason. Most of our pathways are pretty technical and a lot of these students are encountering additional barriers as a result.

I use graphic organizers for essentially everything.  It helps students know what to fill out with their own work and provides me space to give concrete "examples" of what they could do to complete the assignment.

You have an example of one I can see? I thought about having some sort of "project map" type graphic organizer.

Not the best example, since it's not colorful but it breaks up the writing into it's specific sections.

I grade based on Participation and effort. SpEd students can feel a bit better about just trying and we discuss often just trying and not needing to be perfect for work to be done/turned in.

I grade similarly to Melanie as well.  Students may not earn their articulation credit but they are able to earn the grade they want by revising work.  I have open office hours where I support students in completing tasks for grade improvements and before the improvement needs to be made.
